Sometimes life gets real.

I interrupt any scheduled blog post to get serious for a moment.

I’ve wrote an intro to this blog post at least six times I kept deleting it, so I decided to keep this rough and just go with it.

Sometimes things happen in my real life and I decide not to blog because I don’t like to write negative things on here. I want this space to be about happy parties, fashion finds, shopping ideas and of course wine, beer and cocktails.

Sometimes when bad things happen, I take a few days off of blogging. I don’t want people to think “How is she all happy when (fill in the blank bad thing) is happening.” I typically just wait until the dust settles and then post a little Etsy Find or Thirsty Thursday.

Recently a really unthinkable, tragic, sad thing happened to someone really important in my life. I still haven’t been able to wrap my head around it, but I need to address it. I need to address it before I can post on here again. Because it just doesn’t feel right to talk about what pair of shoes I’m drooling over right now or my six-month search for a new work bag when a good friend is suffering. That stuff just doesn’t matter.

My best friend lost her husband of less than 2 years.

I don’t feel the need to publicly explain the story, but I do want to say that it was extremely sudden and she wasn’t in the country when it happened. She did have a group of friends with her and I’m very thankful that good people were with her.

So before we go back to talking about my silly obsession with glitter and sequins, I want to say this. That obsession is silly. Everything I write on here is silly. None of this really matters. What really matters is spending time with your family and friends and not sweating the small stuff. They always say that life is short and for some it’s very short.

There may be some dark posts thrown in here (because that’s real life and all), but I will to be back to regularly scheduled posting soon.

My thoughts go out to you and your friend and her family. That is rough. But your blog should never feel like a place where you cannot write what you're actually thinking, so I don't think any of readers will mind a few "dark" posts knowing that this has happened.
